South Peace Secondary School

Physical Education Football 10/11/12

Physical Education football is available to all Grade 10, 11 and 12 students; however, the target group for the class is students who are interested in playing on the South Peace Football Team. Team members are encouraged to register in the course.

The course content for the program will follow curriculum guidelines for Physical Educaton, but with football serving as a focal point to address learning outcomes. Student will earn regular Phical Educaiton course credits.

 

 

The Training

 

Spring Camp begins mid May each weekday after immediately after school. There are football camps offered during these months and a Jamboree of exhibition games to start off the season.

The Fall season begins in August with practices each weekday prior to school starting. There are exhibition games and more Jamborees.

Workouts include stretching, blocking, receiving, hitting, taking hits, passing and working through plays on the field. Conditioning exercises are repeated to improve endurance as well as balance and reflexes. Learning pyschological manuvers, strategies and making quick decisions build confidence in the game and off the field.

Game videos are viewed by the team to analyze and make team improvements.
